1. Contour master study of Picasso drawing
-image provided on the blog. (30 pts)
2. 7-9 Cubes in Two-point perspective (30
pts) Create a two-point abstraction. Begin with 7-9 cubes drawn all over the page in various proportion and scale. Then create a protrusion and intrusion on each cube. Keep adding and taking away until you can no longer differentiate the original cubes. You should also have tile, stairs and an optional multiple point protrusion.
3. 10 spheres showing volume and
directional light. (30 pts)
4. Choose a value master study from the
blog and try to reproduce it in your sketchbook. (30 pts) You will be creating a Master Study from one of a selection of images. LINK to previous student work.
For
each field trip (4), you will fill a minimum of 3 pages with studies from the
site. These studies should reflect the week’s focus. (Using your small or large
sketchbook)

week we will have a written or verbal critique. Written critiques can be
completed in your larger sketchbook. (10pts/each)

your Final exam, you will complete a vocabulary test and write an essay that
analyzes the work you have completed over the duration of the course. Specific
prompts will be provided. (50pts)

each field trip (4), you will fill a minimum of 4 pages with studies from the
site. This can include architecture, people, animals, signs, plants, etc.
(Using your small or large sketchbook)
During
class time you will work on thematic studies (listed on course calendar) in
your larger sketchbook. (minimum 2 pages per week) You can choose to synthesize
drawings from the fieldtrip into more finished drawings OR use the week’s theme
and photo reference.
Each
week we will have a written or verbal critique. Written critiques can be
completed in your larger sketchbook.
For
your Final exam, you will write an essay that analyzes the work you have
completed over the duration of the course. Specific prompts can be provided if
requested.
